2:24: I know I am supposed to be writing in my other, irl journal, which I probably will, but something just struck me (and something I am not going to put into my journal). What is it with all the FtM people in fandoms today? Is it something that's been big all along, and I just missed it? Or is it a new fad with the emerging, cool male characters that dominate the media landscape today. Either way, it's slightly disconcerting, the amount of young women dissatisfied with themselves.
JET Program didn't work out, but no big surprise there; over 5,000 applicants from the States alone! So, instead, I am applying for a teaching job in Korea, with the Flying Cows Consulting service. It's turning out to be very cool!
Let's see, what else; I have my passport (a story unto itself), graduated college with two additional minors, and I just turned 23! Well, my life is certainly speeding up, isn't it?
Also, I found a clock. I know, call me a geek.

Taking the Plunge
Ok, so I took the plunge! I applied for the JET program, and now I'm getting all the paper application together. I have to have it to the Japanese Embassy by November the 24th. It makes me a bit nervous- I'll be away from home, and I don't know when or if I'll be able to go back. But it's not like I've even been accepted yet, so I can't say...
But, on the other hand, a long-term wish of mine will be fulfilled! I'll finally be able to go to Japan, and experience it firsthand. Is it bad that, in recent years, I haven't been as enamoured with Japan? I guess because now I know so much about it, and its problems.
But, I'm still excited!

So because I am dancing back and forth between reading Twilight and City of Bones while watching Supernatural (have to have something to counteract the scariness), I felt the need to say some things.
Upon the first few pages of Twilight, I am already enraged. Bella, why can't you be even a little happy that your father bought you a car? A fucking car. Most teeagers would die in happiness at the thought of a vehicle solely for them (the ones in Hollywood being the exception). What the hell.
Is it sad, though, that her writing is actually better than Cassandra Clare's? I thought they would be basically on par... (Though it is not only writing that is awful with Clare, but character reactions as well; I can't count how many times I would think to myself "Someone in that situation would not have done that, you lying whore!")
